Tesla Confirms Final Unveiling Date for Next-Gen Roadster with SpaceX Thrusters

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, stated, “It’s out of this world,” in response to the company’s announcement on X regarding the final unveiling date for the next-gen Roadster. Tesla has confirmed that the Roadster will be unveiled on Thursday, October 10, 2026, overturning previous rumors suggesting an August unveil. The October date allows time for preparation and media discussion.

A teaser image shared by Tesla reveals the rear fascia of the next-gen Roadster and shows four thrusters firing cold gas, which are integrated into the design. These SpaceX thrusters provide bursts of forward acceleration and will be offered as an optional upgrade.

In a 2020 update, Musk indicated that SpaceX Rocket Thrusters could cut the Roadster’s 0-60 mph time significantly, potentially under 1 second with their use. However, it remains uncertain how many power bursts the thrusters can provide, affecting customer interest.

Musk has also mentioned that the new Roadster will feature radical design changes, moving away from the outdated 2017 prototype. Early indicators show a redesigned rear end with modern Tesla design elements.
